First day in Shanghai

I am here on my first full day. Arrived after long flights. 9 hrs from LAX to NRT in coach and 3 hrs from NRT to SVG. I had the front seat in coach so it was better than most. The ride still was really crowded. Got to get out in NRT and do a bit of walking and purchased Andy a book. It was my first time in Japan and I didn't leave the airport.

The best part was that I got upgraded into world business class for the NRT to SVG leg. That is the way to fly. The cool power seat even had massaging in it and it laid back like a bed. The food and wine was good too.

I had to fill out the regular customs forms but also a health form asking a bunch of questions like if I had been in contact with chickens in the last week. I traveled to our hotel that night and got some sleep even though it was morning time back home.

Time change is crazy. Add 16 hours to pacific time or 14 hours to central time. It is the next day here usually.

The hotel room is the best I have stayed at. It is the Holiday Inn and I am on the executive floor on the 30th level. Small room but it makes up for it with all the cool stuff. Bath robes, free juices and pop in the fridge, free fruit basket, free laundry, free food and drinks in the lounge, turn down service, and the bathroom is fully stocked with razors, toothbrushes, and everything you need.
